Back to Back International Wool Challenge

On Sunday the 3rd June, 2012 the International Wool Challenge will be held at the adjoining property to Nana and Pa’s, (The Turpentine Tree.) The teams will commence shearing of the sheep at 8am, the wool then spun into yarn and then knitted into a jumper as specified by the competition.

There will be a variety of local handicraft and produce stalls, including several different food stalls. The day will conclude at 4.30pm. What a fantastic days outing for the family in a lovely rural setting.

Why not stay at Nana and Pa’s and enjoy a short walk in the country to the event.

Day out in the Blue Mountains

Join us in the Formal Garden for an afternoon of 1920s fun, fashion and music. BYO picnic and relax to the sounds of early jazz music with Bill Dudley’s New Orleanians. Watch a game of croquet on the lawn and perhaps try your hand. Take a tour of The Jungle or view a selection of 1920s clothing and accessories from The Darnell Collection on show in our Visitor Centre.

From your Bilpin Accommodation drive to Mt Wilson

With our Bilpin Accommodation you are only a short drive to Mt Wilson. There are many walks and gardens in Mount Wilson, including lookouts with wonderful views across the mountains and interesting reserves.

Pack a picnic lunch and after breakfast you can leave your Bilpin accommodation to drive along Bells Line of Road to Mt Wilson. Here is a list of places that are must to see in Mt Wilson.

Lookouts - Wynnes Rocks Lookout and DuFaurs Rocks
Spectacular views are seen from these two sites, over Bowen’s Creek to Mt Tomah for the first and the Wollangambe Crater from the latter. Walks to Chinaman’s Hat (15 minutes from DuFaur’s Rocks) and Pheasant’s Cave (about 1 hour). A shelter shed is located at Wynnes Rocks Lookout.
Marcus Clark Reserve
On The Avenue, the same side as the Fire Station.
There is a short walk through an arboretum of the native plants of the sandstone soil.
Waterfall Reserve
Shelter shed and toilet. Waterfall Walk through the rainforest is a must, about 1 hour.
Nearby is Gregson Park , together with Jefferson Bridge which straddles Waterfall Creek, links the bottom end of Waterfall Road and Wyndham Avenue.
Happy Valley
Shelter shed. Try the Happy Valley Walk, approximately 1 hour from the picnic area.
